I agree, ive never done anything harder than wrestling! You work almost every muscle in your body and you have to be in really good shape

I think most sports are difficult but at different levels. You can't say a sport isn't hard unless u have tried it. Like swimming. How many of you can swim a 500 (20 laps) at a race pace witout wanting to stop? It takes a lot of mental and physical strength and endurance. But I'm sure other sports do too.

i say wrestling. in a varsity match you wrestle for 6 minutes that means your sprinting for 6 minutes. plus your in various postions that hurt alot. ive practiced so hard i threw up. coaches are #!$*@. and cutting weight sucks. wrestling is definetly the hardest

I played almost every sport but by far the most physically and mentally demanding sport is cross country. Anyone can go out there and run but not everyone can mantain a fast pace for a long amount of time running through rough surfaces and not giving up when running up deadly hills. It requires the most guts out of any sport. You have to learn to run while feeling pain and push harder. your body wants to give, your muscles burn, your feet ache and the more you run the harder it is to breath. You must handle pain with strategy. Cross country teaches us how to push beyond where we thought we could go.It makes us challenge ourselves. It makes us find out what were made of. This sport is definately every sport's punishment. If you still think your sport is hard, then maybe should should try this out.

umm..i think gymnastics...in gymnastics you have to have super flexibility, endurance, strength, and stamina. it's a hard sport to partake in...but i think that's the hardest sport.

In my view Wrestling takes the most skill, This sport takes physical and mental motion to win the game, you need to know what to do and when to do it, also you need to cut massive amounts of weight for a specific match so wrestling wins over all mark456 real estate

to me, ex prep school wrestler, it's wrestling. nothing i've ever done in my life has required the strngth, conditioning, and concentrated mental focus, of wrestling someone as big as me for a strong six minutes. i also played lacrosse (and tennis, yay!) in my prep career, and still do in college (our div iii team made it to the conference final last spring), and it's a great game/sport, but wrestling is like life. you're totally on your own, one to one (with death, to complete the metaphor), lose concentration for a fraction of a second, and it's all over. i don't know of another sport that is that intense.

Nathan Posted: Jul 16, 2009 at 07:05 PM EDT

Definitely wrestling

james Posted: Jul 12, 2009 at 01:00 PM EDT

bullfighting, if thats a sport. if not, them boxing. the toughest team sportL aussie rules football. the intensity in that is like American football but without pads (which cannot be said for rugby, which has a completely different set of rules & techniques that don't require padding)

james Posted: Jul 12, 2009 at 12:58 PM EDT

boxing. there's 2 other guys in the ring, the ref aing gonna help you, & the other guy is trying to kill you. You need to fight 36 mintues & the only time you take a break, so does the opponent. compared to UFC, boxers take A LOT more strikes & there is A LOT more strategy. I;ve played jsut about every sport and there is nothing in the entire sports workld more lonely & intimidating than the ring.

I would have to say that either gymnastics or figure skating would be the hardest because of all the physical training those people have to go through to stay in such good shapes, and all those precise movements, it just takes a lot of time and effort and I have to give it up to all those gymnists and figure skaters out there... I envy you guys. I really do.

Kaylin Posted: Jul 07, 2009 at 09:29 PM EDT

i think that it's horseback riding. many people may think that it's easy but it is much harder than it looks. not only do you have yourself to worry about you have a thousand pound animal under you that you need to keep under control. you and the horse both need to be in sync and do everything clean inorder for you to be successful. it is also one of the most unpredictable sports because you never know how the horse is going to be the day you ride them. being in shape and being in riding shape are two different things.

In my opinion, it's crew. If you are in a lightweight boat you can't eat as many calories as your body expends because you have to stay under a certain weight. Also, crew requires technical skill, incredible muscle strength and a shitload of endurance. You need to be in perfect synch with everyone in the boat. One false move could cost you the race. Also, the oar gives you blisters and cuts all over your hands, so you have to deal with that too.

Kyle Posted: Jul 07, 2009 at 03:32 PM EDT

being a wrestler you think that would have my vote, but i've been doing mma (mixed martial arts) for two years, its like ufc and i would have to say hands down its the most physical and mentally demanding knowing your going to take a hit and have 3 6 min periods just takes everything out of you and its a combination of the toughest sports out there like boxing, kick boxing and wrestling. if you think there is a crazier and more demanding sport out there i would like to know what it is ...

DIAH Posted: Jul 07, 2009 at 02:20 PM EDT

@ Aaron : I agree, I say wrestling too.. you truly like it ir you will end there..

actually, i don't really like sport.. but I tried to.. I tried softbal and karate.. I felt that the most thing that makes any sport hard to play is your will.. without that, you can't do sport.. am I right??l

rugby is the most physically and mentally demanding sport. You run for 40 minutes straight have a short break then run another 40 minutes at top speed. While your running your getting tackled or tackling and have to pop back up and keep running. you also have to push people outa the way and lift people into the air. it is mentally demanding because you have to work as a team and you don't have a set of plays you always use like in football so you have to know what your teamates are doing and improvise. It takes a lot of guts because in almost every rugby game someone gets a major injury. when your running with the ball you have nobody to block for you. you take it straight into the opposition and if you get taken to the ground expect to get a cleat or two in the face before you can crawl outa there and if you stay standing your team is going to come and smash into you trying to push the ball further. and there are no pads for protection. and there isn't a very many substitutions.

Connor Posted: Jul 07, 2009 at 10:38 AM EDT

I think its swimming. Swimming takes a huge toll on your body both mentally and physically. You have to be strong but also have muscle endurance. Every muscle in your body has to be in shape. Having to go through practice 6 days of the week going 100% takes a lot of athletism and endurance and skill.

PLAY HOCKEY!!! look for my forum coming soon for hockey questions and whatever.

PEACE!

becca Posted: Jul 07, 2009 at 09:04 AM EDT

i think gymnastic is the most demanding because if your not doing what ever skill perfect you have to do it and do it and do it till it is perfect. plus there is always tons of risk of getting badly injured on bars beam and vault

sam Posted: Jul 07, 2009 at 08:57 AM EDT

People might think other sports but itz really football. Do u feel that hit that they are putting on u. On like other sports u have to think fast, not just fast even faster than ever. u have to read u opponnent. U have to know your surounnding at all time. We are not juet talking about just the ball, what happen when u catch that ball? U have to be able to run get away from takkles, all that I can say is football like any other sports u have to think faster than your opponnent. U have to put in the work and do your partz.

david Posted: Jul 07, 2009 at 01:32 AM EDT

By far wrestling. It requires an intense amount of stamina and endurance. It also requires mental fitness as well as physical. You have to have a ton of guts to wrestle because every move works against joints and you never know if u will get hurt.

Max Posted: Jul 07, 2009 at 12:29 AM EDT

DISTANCE RUNNING!! It doesn't take any skill but it DEFINITELY requires the most athleticism and the most guts. You can't use trick plays like in football. You don't have an arsenal of different techniques to apply like in wrestling. In distance races, there's no taking knees at the end of the game, or letting your opponent up from the bottom position. You go out and run as hard as you can, despite your mind's urges not to. Having done all three at the high school level (that includes varsity wrestling and varsity cross country), I can safely say that distance running is the hardest sport. Hey, why else would it be every other sport's punishment?

(but I'll admit, football & wrestling take more skill, and they arre more exciting)

Peter Posted: Jul 06, 2009 at 11:33 PM EDT

Wrestling, because your not running against someone, you don't have other players to help with a tackle, you don't have to worry about a bike chain if it breaks. Wrestling you have to be very physical and physically fit, its also very demanding because if you want to good at wrestling wrestling you have to be dedicated and that's very demanding. Wrestling also takes a lot of skill. a lot of the good wrestlers have been wrestling for like 6-10 years so its a high skill sport. Then comes the athleticism and with athleticism come balance, reaction, body kinetics, strength, and body memory. Just so everyone knows what body memory is, its when you practice a wrestling move over and over until you just do it without thinking and know what you are doing and where your body is when your doing that certain move. WRESTLING is the HARDEST and OLDEST SPORT in the WORLD, that's WHY NOT EVERYONE CAN DO IT.

mike Posted: Jul 06, 2009 at 11:28 PM EDT

i would have to say wrestlin it takes the most skill and at my high school especially has some of the hardest flipin trainin around i mean we had i 2 time state champ and my other buddy trevor won to we ran 3 miles sometime for warm up practice then ran some more and when u step on that mat man there is no other thing like it in the world it gets ur blood pumpin and u have tothink a lot

Jenna Posted: Jul 06, 2009 at 10:58 PM EDT

I think that swimming is the hardest sport. It is always intense training no matter what level. It takes endurance, skill, and a strong mental capacity to make it through the practices and meets of a season. When in a race it becomes mind over body to push to the finish. All of the physical work is put in during practice then it is executed in races with the mental piece. I have swum for 7 years and I was always pushing myself every day that I was in the pool. It was hard work, but well worth the rewards.

Desmond Posted: Jul 06, 2009 at 10:25 PM EDT

Football, no doubt.

Ruben Posted: Jul 06, 2009 at 09:42 PM EDT

Football specifically offensive line your pounding someone every play while trying to remember what play your running where your suppose to go if something chances while trying to remember the snap count

sandro Posted: Jul 06, 2009 at 08:32 PM EDT

I think Downhill/freeride mountainbiking is the hardest because you huck yourself off of 1 to 40 foot drops and have to doge trees and boulders while going over 45 mph and ride on wooden bridges no bigger than half foot in width and add some dirtjumps to that and riding over and around big boulders and riding along 100 foot drops trying to not fall.

Keith Posted: Jul 06, 2009 at 08:29 PM EDT

I say it is Road Cycling. Weather it is flats or mountains they climb and carry such speed. That is the hardest and best out there.

Jessica Posted: Jul 06, 2009 at 08:28 PM EDT

Gymnastics is by far the hardest sport. I am in the gym for 3 hours in the morning and then 4 more at night. We condition like crazy and also have to watch what we eat in order to stay small enough. Gymnastics puts tons of strain on the body too. I'm only 16 and I've had 2 wrists surgeries and a knee. Plus not only does it require tremendous physical strength to be able to execute the skill but it also takes a lot of mental strength because there are so many ways you can hurt yourself by making one tiny mistake.

Chantelle Posted: Jul 06, 2009 at 08:14 PM EDT

I think Rugby and Wrestling. My friend wrestles and it was painful for me to see what he had to do to himself to cut weight and make the mark.

Anna Posted: Jul 06, 2009 at 07:47 PM EDT

i think diving is the hardest sport to play.....you have to flip yourself of a board..not only does it take a lot of strength but also alot of mental strength..to throw yourself forward and backwards towards a board

Corey Posted: Jul 06, 2009 at 06:51 PM EDT

football is def the hardest there are no questions asked for any position a kick returner watching 11 guys sprint at him waiting to kill him or a wide receiver going up for a pass when he knows asafety is going to take out his knees and still hold onto the ball. Football is the most mentally and physically gruling sport with the playbook ever player must know back and front and the systems and signals its the hardest sport to master.

Taylor Posted: Jul 06, 2009 at 06:43 PM EDT

I'd have to go with wrestling. We run sprints , halls and laps to make weight. Then you have to like not eat the whole day before a match. Then you have to to try to pin someone within the 3 rounds and if you don't you get frustrated.

garsha Posted: Jul 06, 2009 at 06:29 PM EDT

I think is it track and field. Because we run 3-4 3000meters with time no slower than 40seconds. we go like 40-39-38-37 seconds.after that you are almost done for the day. And you have to be discipline to stay in shape. Most people don't know what is your "DRIVE FACE"...and that means staying low for at least 30meters into the race and then gradually bring up your head at 35-40meters. And you should be able to stride long and longer but not too long...You just got to be able to keep up ur speed with ur heart rate.

Michelle Posted: Jul 06, 2009 at 04:50 PM EDT

I think rugby is really hard. You don't wear padding, you get beat up...and you have to sprint for 40 minutes straight with no breaks!
