Although football is a "rougher" sport, then have the whistle blown every five seconds, making them less tired. Soccer players on the other hand, have to keep running, no matter what...for soccer you can never tell where that ball is going to go, unlike football... Thats just my opinion.

Well it is the most popular sport in the world.. but I think American football is tougher rougher and just has more overall contact and excitement

Well, I have a few problems with your statement. First of all, anyone can play ANY sport. Soccer actually breaks more bones than football and basketball combined. And kicking the ball is NOT all you do.

Soccer is a real sport, and you're most likely tougher than a football player. I've actually been kicked in the head in a game, and kept playing. People say it's for wimps due to the many floppers (eg; someone laying on the ground for about a month, and then just hopping up like nothing happened). But floppers are present in basketball, and even in football.

Americans believe that soccer's for wimps because at least one of these reasons (most likely):

1) They are in love with American football, and can't fathom that a sport using your feet is called football everywhere else.

2)They don't understand it.

3)They just HATE the fact you can't use your hands.

it is totally a real sport! i have never herd anyone say that before, but i would get into a whole fired up argument if i met that person. soccer is a real sport for girls, for men, and it is played world wide and is the MOST POPULAR SPORT IN THIS WORLD!!!!!! football (the american type) is not played world wide and has world compettition and all that. the only time i ever watch it is the super bowl so that i can watch the commercials (sounds stupid, but i dont care)!!!!!!

Soccer is a contact sport. I've played soccer for 5 years and it is a contact sport. I also play some what football. people don't get hurt from the ball they get hurt from other people. I've seen people get sent to the hosbital during games cause they need stitches. if soccer isn't a contact sport than cheerleading isn't even close to being a sport

i play soccer, for my school team...and i have heard the same thing......there is a lot of contact going to win 50-50 balls......and you get pushed down and tripped a lot...people need to play to understand how fun it really is.

soccer does have contact, like shoulder check and tackles, etc.......soccer is a real sport, you have to run basically every where around the field to get the ball for 90 mins without non stop, except when there is a foul and freekicks, etc. american football is a really not that much of a sport....... there is contact, but basically u have breaks every stop and too many tackles but only ones..... probably americans are type of country that like sports that has many contacts like hockey, because of so many wimps in soccer which puts negatively in country like america to overlook soccer........ but soccer is the world most favourite sport in the world for a good reasons.....

soccer is the best sport ever. you have to run so much it's not even funny. the only other sport that you run just as much is basketball, but they're inside and can cool down easily. football is a good sport too, but they get to take a break between each play.

i play both soccer and football i use to say the same thing about soccer then the coach at our school asked me to play cause i was really fast and every sence i have loved it no soccer isnt a contact sport but there is alot of cantact in it iv hit alot of ppl and socccer isnt for everyone but yes most ppl can play soccer you just have to practice but yes soccer is a real sport

Could you tell the difference if it was soccer or football - if you can't than I rest my case - Soccer is a sport although I have never ever played it. Anything that requires a lot of running and body contact is a sport.

there is no way soccer is not a sport. in fact it is one of the most difficult sports out there all the running and body contact that goes into soccer and there is no protection but there is also a very delicate side also when it comes to and handling the ball but you need power. so if high school cheer leading is a sport there should be no doubt in anyone's mind that soccer is.

not just anyone could play and actually do well. America is in love with American Football not soccer. there is going to be some negativity. I play American Football and im honestly in love with it. that being said, soccer is a real sport and does have some contact, you do not just kick the ball. you slide tackle, you hit it with your head, you do back flip kicks (bicycle kicks or something), and you run into each other when your not looking. a lot of guys get injured playing soccer. Soccer maybe an alternative for some wimps. honestly it would be the best sport to play if your a wimp. But just because you play it doesnt make you a wimp.

Soccer and (american) football are two sports that first of all cannot be compared. They require completely different conditioning and strategy. I have played soccer my entire life and i occasionally hear someone who plays football say that soccer is for whimps but I dont feel i need to say anything back. Football players always want to show their toughness and therefore say that soccer is not a real sport. I would like to see a 300 lb. lineman try to play midfield in a competetive soccer match. Whew...that guy would last no more than 5 minutes. All in all i am trying to stay that football is for the people who just like to be told what to do while soccer requires teamwork and strategy.

soccer is a sport that demands strategic thinking, dexterity, speed, agility, and a lot of skill. if being a sport depends on having contact then let's all have sex and be athletes.

I personally love soccer, its my life, its all about taste. Soccer has alot more practice and talent involved to perfect things. You will never be perfect at juggling in soccer and thats the bottom line, its a challenge. Thats why it deserves as much respect as any other sport out there.

k, all you soccer players make fun of us football dudes for rockin pads...personally, more often than not im playing (full contact) in a wifebeat and shorts with my cleats and gloves. i hate the pads. as a track/cross country runner, i agree that soccer conditioning is tough. try conditioning with a wrestling team sometime, ill SMOKE you for sure. and i can guarentee i can kick the $#!^ out of any soccer player stupid enough to step to me. soccer players dont get hit in the ribs by 240 pound linebackers while in the air trying to catch a ball in the pouring rain. so, while soccer may be tough, it has nothing on football or wrestling.

soccer is a real sport.anyone who says differently hasnt played a full 90 minute game. the conditioning and work outs soccer players do are tough, but so are football workouts. each sport has its own demanding properties that make it unique. having played soccer my entire life, i must say that it is a real sport that takes commitment and a lot of outside work to perfect your game.

As a football and soccer player i say that both are great sports, and both require different abilities. In my opinion in soccer you must be more endured, and you need to have will power to push you in the game, but in football you ahve to be tough to fight off the bruises, the cuts etc, and still play. But to saay that soccer is for wimps has to be the most arrogant thing ive ever heard, sure if other sports you hear about the injuries players have, but soccer for some reason gets left out, most soccer players dont have toe nails but on the physical play.

theres way more work in soccer than there is in football. We have to hold people off and run constantly. In football you stop and go, but in soccer, if youre a midfielder, you almost never stop moving

I am a football coach and I know I am suppose to say that soccer is for wimps...I can't. Soccer has a different skill set than football. I do feel football players are overall the best athletes around, but I will never take anything away from the athletic ability and skill of soccer players. The game is also much more physical than most people give it credit for. Yes, I too have witnessed the dives and acting skills of soccer players, but it is physical. To sound off soccer is not for wimps and it is a real sport.

Soccer is one of the top rated sports in all of america and yeah sometimes we may take dives but i wanna see football players go through all the conditioning and hard work we do and see if they can last i know first hand that anything i do for soccer is 10x harder then it is for football cause ive played both sports ive played soccer since i was 4 and soccer is not for whimps

SOCCER RULES!! If any sport isn't real it's football. 9 out of 10 of footballs injuries are so small you can still practice...in soccer if you get injured bad enough to come out of the game your on crutches most likely. FOOTBALL IS FOR WHIMPS SO SHUT UP!!!!!!!!

For Matt and others that don't understand soccer and think it is just a bunch of girlie boys diving at the slightest contact, I suggest you do your homework. Yes there is the occasional dive at the pro levels in an effort to draw a call, but I haven't seen that in any game I have been in. anyone that thinks soccer isn't a real sport should step onto the field with a highly competitive team. You would get your !## whooped. And dont even say that soccer is a whimp sport, especially all you retard football players out there that wear a body suit of pads and a fricken helmet. I agree w/ sam and ty...I would have to play from 15-30 minutes non-stop running and sprinting. We don't have any protection except shin pads which is about the size of your average remote control and a little more wider, hell we don't even have nut cups....The way I see it soccer players put in more work than fottball

But think of it like this: we don't wear any padding, don't have time outs, don't stop play every 3 sec. :)

MABYE....soccer is a conacted sport, but um, football is a colision sport,we hit the hardest out of anysport, and that protection only covers bout 40 percent off out bodies, and um u think soccers brutal, down in new jersey a kid died in footbal cause he got a brain hemerage, u know what that is? a bleeding brain, even with protection kids are still ending up dead cause is a colision sport, a risk we football players are willing to take, and in the NFL, ppl all over the place are getting paralized, id like to see that in soccer

K ppl ive played both sports and they are both full of contact.....in football ive seen a qb get his shoulder dislocated...and in soccer we played against a team and one of our players drove one guys knee cap into his thigh and ive traded drop kicks with goalies and all that !#&# but seriously if u diss on soccer its because u havent played it or u just havent seen a good game......

Sure, there are more tackles and hits in football, but that doesn't mean that soccer isnt a sport, or that people who play soccer are whimps. Trust me, i could say stuff about football players too. Soccer players don't suck oxygen on the sidelines, they don't call timeouts every two minutes cause they've lost their breath, and we don't get quarters where we can talk to the coach and get back into our gameplan. Trust me, it can go both ways.

I HATE SOCCER who cares if soccer is the most popular in the world..this is America people...football is way beter then soccer, i mean in soccer all i do is slide tackle and wow, thats manly(not) me myself am a defensive linmen on my varsity football team, and anyone give a objention id love to hear it, as a linmen ive ben knocked out, broken fingers, toes, comcusions, but every time it happens i get up and keep playin like all football players do just tape it up and go back out, now i watch a soccer game and a kid got kicked in the shin had a little cut and the whole team was flippin out cause he was bleeding,wow every one bleeds, and i was a former soccer player and i would never go back so, yea soccers a sport but football is way better.

I agree with you, but I think the reason why people say it is because Christiano Ronaldo and tons of other players fake s*!t and dive. Don't get me wrong they're great players but you can be good and not dive all over the place.
