Started my freshmen year at 140 pounds, finally my senior year im 165. I've done some crazy things on the field that people doubted i could do cause of my size, they said i'd break somethin...well yeah i broke my neck but thats were the size of the fight in the dog comes in. What do you guys think?

its the size of the fight in the dog. no one on my team is over 180lbs n we are 6-2 and a high school varsity team. we have two games to win and we will make it to the state playoffs. we gata for forty eight minutes n never lay down. as long as you step on the other teams neck n never let up it dnt matter how big or small you are.

Wendy Posted: Oct 10, 2009 at 04:33 PM EDT

Its all about mentality. We have some tiny girls on our team but if they think they're 190 instead of 90 pounds, they plow through giant girls and are beasts.

logan Posted: Oct 10, 2009 at 01:16 AM EDT

i have a teammate tht is 5 ft 4 140 lbs of nottin but muscle he leads r team in sacks and tackles he averages 3 sacks a game and 16 takles a game so it is the fight in the dog not the size of the dog in the fight

Chris Posted: Aug 23, 2009 at 02:59 PM EDT

No doubt it's the size of the fight in the dog....just check out little guys in the NFL Maurice Jones Drew for example check that S.O.B. out he is pint size but he never backs down from anyones &#%$....Ie: the play one season ago when they were at the goal line and Shawne Merriman who Is one HUGE mother effer tried to blitz around the corner.....Jones Drew just ran up lowered his shoulder and BAM! flattened that giant on the ground.....so It is deff the size of the fight, not the size of the dog

JUSTIN Posted: Jul 07, 2009 at 12:28 AM EDT

man im 6'1 220 an ive played some lil guys that could bring it....football aint size its leverage the low man wins

Zac Posted: Jun 29, 2009 at 11:16 AM EDT

it is definetly the size of the fight in the dog. it doesnt really matter how big u are cuz i have met some little guys that could hit pretty hard.

Trevor Posted: Apr 13, 2009 at 11:37 PM EDT

Most definetly the size of the fight in the dog. are teams is prolly one of the most undersized and we only have 17 players and we all hit pretty hard.

Stanley Posted: Mar 29, 2009 at 05:58 PM EDT

Its the fight that you have within you matters if you have the mindset that you can go out there and beat them then go do it. People tell me i work to hard in the weight room, the field, and the other sports i do. I have tat mindset mentality that i can beat anyone that challenges me even if it looks like i won't I'm gonna fight til i die cause this world don't care for weak minds they want them strong ones.

Claude Posted: Mar 28, 2009 at 01:45 PM EDT

i'll say dat all of these people who r making comments 2 this topic must b under 170 lbs. all of us want it badder than the bigger people. so we prove how wrong they r and go out on da field and show our !#!!# off. that's why we r more athletic.

Claude Posted: Mar 28, 2009 at 01:39 PM EDT

i say its da fight in da dog.b/c i weight 150 lbs. i play varsity and i worked hard tryin 2 play varsity. i squat 385 lbs. and people don't believe it. some of u might not believe it either, but it is the fight in da dog in da weight room 4 me.and out on da field.

Zack Posted: Mar 14, 2009 at 02:43 AM EDT

its kinda both in a way. i mean u dont want to be TO small. btw im a freshman at 240.

Jose Posted: Mar 14, 2009 at 12:54 AM EDT

itz def the fight in the dog, im also an undersized player, im at 143 playin varsity, but i'm the hardest worker on the team and i've learned alot. Unlike most sports football is a game of heart, u dont have to be big to be good and u dont have to be good cuz ur big.

Daniel Posted: Mar 09, 2009 at 08:51 PM EDT

same here dude i started my freshmen year at 135 and only benched 120 now i'm a jr and i'm 170 and benching 195 and squating 430 the off season is just as important as the regular season if u don't try to get better u won't and thats crazy about ur neck dude hope u get better and keeep playing

eric Posted: Mar 09, 2009 at 07:40 PM EDT

The problem is when the bigger person has the same fight!!!

Brett Posted: Mar 04, 2009 at 08:15 PM EST

its the size of the fight in the dog because our team this year played teams a whole lot bigger than us even though we lost some we stood up with every team we played

Brentavious Posted: Feb 26, 2009 at 09:28 AM EST

its the size of the fight u can be the biggest on the field but can be softer that a cheerleader on the sideline

zachary Posted: Feb 25, 2009 at 09:21 PM EST

size of the dog helps, but its fight in the dog all the way! i'm a 5'7" 123 lb junior wide out/DB who is constantly covering/being covered by guys bigger than me and winning more often than not.

Drew Posted: Feb 05, 2009 at 03:38 PM EST

size of the fight in the dog. im 5'7 190 DT and i can handle some of D-1 athletes, and ive always been that way. when i get on the field its like i need to win. there is nothing worse then losing and ill give it all i have, leave it all out there in order to win.

Xavier Posted: Jan 09, 2009 at 05:53 PM EST

FIGHT IN THE DOG Im a 5'6 115 freshma and prob going to get varsity time so you know talent can get you so far but at the end of the day who wants it more and who will leave blood and sweat on the field for it till the final whistle

Xavier Posted: Jan 09, 2009 at 05:48 PM EST

Rock on man im a freshman going into next season and lots of people say I suck but hey I play to win the game and my heart wont give up Under Dogs Rule

Garrett Posted: Jan 06, 2009 at 10:27 PM EST

I feel ya man. Right now I'm a freshman. and i weigh about 140-150 (recently gained some muscle from workin out) so idk. Somewhere in there.

Anyways, Im the starting quarterback and I've overcome obstacles throughout the season.

Always had doubters this year, but i guess i showed em.

But anyways, you sound like you have a strong heart. That can take you a long way anywhere, anytime.

Erika Posted: Jan 06, 2009 at 10:09 PM EST

it's the size of the fight in the dog it doesnt matter how big you are it's how you use what you have for instance - i'm in ice hockey and i'm not that big but i've sent girls across the ice before that were bigger than me

Alec Posted: Dec 31, 2008 at 02:45 PM EST

size of the fight in the dog

Josh Posted: Nov 30, 2008 at 10:01 PM EST

It is not how BAD you are, it is how BAD you want it!

Henry Posted: Nov 28, 2008 at 10:08 PM EST

opps not quarter back, corner back 0.o

Henry Posted: Nov 28, 2008 at 10:16 AM EST

It's the fight in the dog. Suprisingly, on my team at SFP theres our starting quarter back weighs like 120-130 a tlike 5'3 or whatever. We went undefeated the whole season and he delivered some mean hits going up against people usually about 6-8 inches taller than him.

Luke Posted: Nov 17, 2008 at 09:46 PM EST

Its the fight in the dog, i started this year as a 5'8" 130 pound corner and i have gotten a lot of credit for my hitting ability. Im not an angry person but i just love to play football i go crazy when i get out there and i will surprise a lot of people. I took down a 6"5" 250 pound TE ranked as the #4 player in Wisconsin open field and thats not the only 200+ player I have hit.

Christian Posted: Nov 17, 2008 at 09:30 PM EST

that saying is just a metaphor for the fact that the size of a player or even a team isnt always a factor. the other team might be faster and stronger but you still might win if you keep fighting. two years ago on my recreation football team, i was on a reject team and we had 13 players while every other team had 25+. we had 8 games total on the season and our record was 4-4. thats pretty good. that right there is perect example of the size of the fight. every person started both ways and we had two back ups. but we kept fighting

Cydne Posted: Nov 10, 2008 at 05:03 PM EST

its the size of the fight in the dog

Jordan Posted: Nov 09, 2008 at 09:24 PM EST

I think its the size of the fight in the dog....I come from a small school and I play 4 sports (basketball, volleyball, track, and softball) my favorite ends up beiing basketball....im 5'6" 5'7" on a good day and im the smallest forward in our conference... HA people think since they are WAY bigger than me they can push me around but thats not the case! so i REALLY agree with its the size of the Fight in the Dog

Jacob Posted: Oct 28, 2008 at 11:18 PM EDT

I play on the same team as nick(Post starter) and he has done some awesome things so i say fight in the dog. Cause im a 5'6 185 center, who beat out the senior center for the varsity start.

kyle Posted: Oct 13, 2008 at 08:41 PM EDT

im a 300 lbs dt....i think the size of the dog is about the same as the fight in the dog.... for me anyway....

Steven Posted: Oct 13, 2008 at 08:17 PM EDT

it is the fight in the dog. my school has won like 6 sectionals in 2A in Indiana in like the last 12 yers and most of our players that start don't weigh over 215. It is how much you want to win and how much dedication you give to the game. i dont care how big you are or not.

Tom Posted: Oct 05, 2008 at 12:18 PM EDT

im a 155 pound varsity MLB.its the size of the fight in the dog. trust me.

Justin Posted: Sep 17, 2008 at 09:02 PM EDT

Fight in the dog. Period.

its the size of the fight in the dog. If u have more heart and determination than the guy lining up across from u, u should get the job done 9 times outta 10

Tyler Posted: Sep 03, 2008 at 11:48 PM EDT

Its definately the size of the fight in the dog not the size of the dog in the fight. I myself am only like 5'10 and 155 I'm not real fast either. I wound up having to go against our all area 6'2 248 linebacker in a one on one drill and I won 3 out of 4 times. Its like this saying our coach said, "hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work."

the size of the fight in the dog.

you can be bigger, faster, stronger. you need something more you know??

weight you can get easy. speed and strenght too.

one example: Zach Thomas. One of the smallest linebacker of the NFL. One of the best linebackers of the NFL history.

AJ Posted: Aug 25, 2008 at 08:59 PM EDT

It can be either or. Im over six feet tall and im around 210 lbs. and Im faster than I look, but im not all that fast. In my case im the guy that looks intimidating and I happen to injure qite a few people. Ive broken a kids wrist, hand, foot, ankle, and ribs. I think if you play like your the biggest guy in the world but in reality your not, thin you can really knock some heads. I think in some cases its the size of the fight but others its the size of the dog. I cant really make a decision

Thomas Posted: Aug 25, 2008 at 08:59 PM EDT

Fight in the dog. We had a little guy, almost midget size. He beasted out there on the field.

Josh Posted: Aug 25, 2008 at 04:59 PM EDT

i'm not going to say one or the other straight up because in certain instances one would be more beneficial to an individual than the other. neutral

wyatt Posted: Aug 23, 2008 at 12:09 AM EDT

well im pretty big compaired to most of our guys but some of them can do great only weighin 150-190

Jacob Posted: Aug 21, 2008 at 08:30 PM EDT

its is the fight in the dog deff. cause you need that push and drive to win it does not juss happen it comes down to who wants it more

jason Posted: Aug 18, 2008 at 02:38 PM EDT

it like my strength coach always says "if it was easy every one would do it" so it the size of the fight in the dog! i we got this huge kid on my freshman team like 6'3'' and he a big teddy bear. to be good you have to want it!

Dude it's the size in the fight of the dog. I'm a 5 4, 100 pound little skinny chick and i play tackle football with guys.

Connor Posted: Aug 18, 2008 at 08:52 AM EDT

definetly the size of the fight in the dog, my friend Bo is about 5'4 or 5'5 and is 125pounds and he hits soo hard and always makes the tackle, although he is virginia state wrestling champ for his weight class.

Sheree Posted: Aug 18, 2008 at 12:04 AM EDT

For sure,it's the size of the fight in the dog.I used to be a little bitty thing and look what happened to me!! I had the fight of a Bull Terrier at the tender age of 10.Still do,and I thank God that I am a fighter!! It's helped me so much in my life. So,thanks for making me a fighter, life,it turned out great!!! I have had a great ride....

Eli Posted: Aug 17, 2008 at 09:31 PM EDT

definitely the size of the fight in the dog im 5' 4" and about 125 and i made my varsity hockey team as a freshman when i was a lot smaller and i was playing defense

Micheal Posted: Aug 17, 2008 at 07:45 PM EDT

I feel it's the size of the fight in the dog but....to bad many of the college coaches don't feel that way..hell too bad many High School coaches don't feel that way. I have a teammate that could start on just about any HS team. But he's about 5'9" 185lbs. He play the same position I play. I am 6'2" 290lbs. I am better than him but he holds his own when he get a chance to play. I would move toGuard to help him get a chance. We both play center. MY DAWG SKIP! one love bro.

Rachel Posted: Aug 17, 2008 at 02:41 PM EDT

its the fight in the dog. I know I'm not big, but I can bull my way thru to the hoop cuz I know I can if I really want to, and becuase I want to win.

Trevor Posted: Aug 14, 2008 at 10:27 PM EDT

no question It is size of the fight in the dog I am a 5'8 147 lbs freshman the only reason I didnt make Varsity Was because there was a senior whpo they didnt want to bump for a freshman I had 34tackles and 6 picks as a freshman

Karl Posted: Aug 14, 2008 at 09:15 PM EDT

its the fight in the dog, until you realize how big you are compared to someone else.

Vince Posted: Aug 09, 2008 at 08:57 PM EDT

size of the fight in the dog for sure

Alvar Posted: Aug 08, 2008 at 02:25 PM EDT

if the fight in the dogs are equal size, than its the dog. if the dogs are equal size, than it the fight

David Posted: Aug 08, 2008 at 10:55 AM EDT

Definitely fight in the dog, I've crushed throwers twice my size before.

Bryan Posted: Aug 07, 2008 at 12:25 AM EDT

i say that its really all about technique every athlete adapts to the environment but in my opinion only the strong survive because you lose before you die and you die only when you lose. After that nothing much matters.

Jeremy Posted: Aug 06, 2008 at 10:22 AM EDT

The size of the fight in the dog for sure. no matter what you do it comes from inside.

Sheree Posted: Aug 05, 2008 at 11:57 PM EDT

Oh it's for SURE the size of the fight in the dog!!!!! i have a small dog,and she can take on any other dog twice her size,so i vote for the size of the fight in the dog.that's always been the way i've thought about it!!!

Alex Posted: Aug 03, 2008 at 05:30 PM EDT

In high school it's the fight in the dog, in College it's the size of the dog. It sucks! Whatever position you play, you have to have something to compensate for being smaller, speed, strength, technique..whatever. Don't give up, just show what you can do! I'm in the same position as you not the size expected for my position but strong as hell!

Brittany Posted: Aug 03, 2008 at 02:25 PM EDT

i think that it wa great that you go out there and did wat you knew that you could do! don't ever let someone else's doubts pull you down! i know i never do! i weigh 105 lbs and i do powerlifting and when someone asks me my favorite sport and i tell them they say no your not big enough to lift weights! and i always tell them it doesn't matter how big you are or wat you think....its all about how strong you are and how much you believe in yourself! so continue on...get out there and show them everything else you got! Great job!

Rob Posted: Jul 26, 2008 at 09:15 PM EDT

Hell, yeah, it's the fight in the dog. I'm not that big, for a lineman (6'0, and 185 lbs), and I was SUPPOSED to be a WR, when I first started football, but I decided I was going to be a D-end. As ti turned out, I wasn't a D-end. I was a D-tackle. I went in, where I'd never played before, and I played my &*& off, against a guy twice my size. Since then, I've never laughed at the 'size of the fight in the dog' mentality.

Natallia Posted: Jul 26, 2008 at 06:34 PM EDT

hey thanxs for the add...

Alyssa Posted: Jul 26, 2008 at 10:04 AM EDT

its the size of the fight in the dog

Hugo Posted: Jul 24, 2008 at 11:18 PM EDT

if your smaller then most but you know how to use your body it doesnt really matter is the guy is a couple of more pounds then you.. This also matters what sports your talking about.

Michelle Posted: Jul 24, 2008 at 10:57 PM EDT

its the fight in the dog fo sho. size don't matter at all. some of the world's best athletes aren't massive or huge. the harder you work and the more u want something makes even the impossible possible.

Doug Posted: Jul 24, 2008 at 01:41 AM EDT

I agree with Jeffer, its the size of the fight in the dog to an extent, it also depends on if by size of the dog, as in muscle mass, or just fat. if you 5'4" 120 lbs going up against a guy thats 6'4" 240 of solid mass, the little guys gonna get his @ss beat 99.9% of the time.

Austin Posted: Jul 23, 2008 at 07:01 PM EDT

its definatly the fight in the dog. ive seen 300lb linemen that cant hit or block worth #$!* and then again ive seen 155lb safety thatl knock you outta your shoes. Its all about putting your body on the line to be the best.

jeffer Posted: Jul 15, 2008 at 11:47 AM EDT

hmm...depends on the compeitition

Josiah Posted: Jul 14, 2008 at 09:52 AM EDT

It is deffantly the size of the fight in the dog. Because my school is a small low ranked school and nobody expected us to even make it to playoffs with our QB hurt. But we faught, took upper-state championship went to state with a 12-2 record. Unfortunatly we got beat...but we made it to where nobody thought we would. So yes it is the size of the fight in the dog.

kody Posted: Jul 14, 2008 at 09:35 AM EDT

size of the fight in the dog i wrestled 189 this season and i was only like 184 walkin around i could have wrestled 171 but i let my friend take it but i went 29-10 with 27 pins and only got pinned 3 times all by state champ and i was a regional qualifier but seperated my sholder the day b4 but i had a shot at states so def its the size of the fight in the dog i was way undersized most ppl i wrestled walked around at 198-205 then cut so they wrestled 189

Duke Posted: Jul 13, 2008 at 09:18 PM EDT

size of the fight in the dog, as long as someone has heart they have what it takes to overcome a bigger opponent

Daniel Posted: Jul 12, 2008 at 02:22 PM EDT

fight of the dog. i am a starting Oguard and i was only 143 befor i got hurt and i 5"6 but i was the best lineman we have

troy Posted: Jul 11, 2008 at 09:03 PM EDT

the fight. im only 128 and id play oline before and i was one of the best players. if u know how to us there size to help u than it will all work out.

Zach Posted: Jul 10, 2008 at 07:19 PM EDT

Its the fight in the dog but if ur up on a guy who has just as much fight but is bigger, u better be runnin

Scott Posted: Jul 07, 2008 at 11:11 PM EDT

the size of the dog definately healps but the size of his fight is more important in my opinion

Jacob Posted: Jul 07, 2008 at 09:56 PM EDT

Hands down, it's the size of the fight in the dog. I've seen people on the fencing strip that shouldn't have won win. My good friend Corey, who was JV, was fencing a Varsity guy who had been privately trained, and Corey should have lost. Yet he didn't stop trying and he managed to win by one touch (a point in fencing). So, while physical size may help at times, it's the size of the fight in the dog that matters most.

Nolan Posted: Jul 06, 2008 at 09:55 PM EDT

its a combination of both because on my team a guy who is like 5'10 and 180 gets thrown around all day long by those of us who are between 6'1 and 6'5 and weigh between 220 and 260 then again the biggest person on our team is 6'7 280 and has no heart and is lazy, and he gets thrown around just as much as the little dude

shannon Posted: Jul 06, 2008 at 09:30 PM EDT

it should matter about ur size. my thought is u can do whatever u set ur mind to. thats what i grew up with.

Blake Posted: Jul 06, 2008 at 08:43 PM EDT

and my twin brother is playin linebacker....he is 5'9 200 and runs a 4.7....we are a little on the short side....but we have more heart then anyone you will ever meat

Blake Posted: Jul 06, 2008 at 08:41 PM EDT

man its the fight in the dog..... i know personally because i am 5'10 weigh 220 and run a 4.8 in the forty...and ive been starting at defensive end since my freshman year and im about to be a junior....and im about to show this district that all them offensive tackles better be packin a lunch......they average 6'2 250....and im bout to do my thang....and im projected to go to college to be a fullback

Jared Posted: Jul 06, 2008 at 06:50 PM EDT

Im a boxer if you dont have heart you dont have a spot on the card deffinitly the fight in the dog

cody Posted: Jul 06, 2008 at 05:24 PM EDT

fight in the dog

Eunice Posted: Jul 05, 2008 at 05:44 PM EDT

its totally the size of the fight in the dog

Nick Posted: Jul 03, 2008 at 11:35 PM EDT

Well im glad everyone agrees lol But hey im tryin to get bigger, aint nothin a little more size to help with pushin all that heart you got right?

isaac Posted: Jul 03, 2008 at 08:02 PM EDT

its the fight in the dog

harrison Posted: Jul 02, 2008 at 03:22 AM EDT

i think its the size of the fight in the dog. You can be the biggest man in the contest, but you never win unless you have the heart. Thats how running backs get through defensive lines, how a power forward can drive it up the middle. They all have one thing in common, the guts that it takes to get the job done.

Gerald Posted: Jun 29, 2008 at 04:10 PM EDT

Its gotta be the fight in the dog jus look at Cal's receiver DESHAWN JACKSON he is very little

Kenny Posted: Jun 24, 2008 at 09:40 AM EDT

size of the fight in the dog,to a point but im tall for my size and skinny, 6 ft 150 lbs and im a WR and play D End and i have line men coming at me and i light them up! but but but we have a kid 4 ft 95 pounds and a kid 6'4 260 and the little one gives him a fight kind of and this kid is crazy but it never happens so yeah size of fight in the dog to a point

Katelyn Posted: Jun 23, 2008 at 10:51 PM EDT

I think it is the size of the fight in the dog. Like Gary Brackett of the Indianapolis Colts. But no matter what the size the person could put out the best fight.

Emmett Posted: Jun 20, 2008 at 02:14 PM EDT

yeah id have to agree but one thing what happens when the big guy and the little guy want it the same then what all the little guy has is heart and the big guy has heart and strength

Brian Posted: Jun 20, 2008 at 02:06 PM EDT

Look to little kids football, tyke or atom and so on, you can barely tell the difference from a QB to a lineman but some of them do really well while others fail, its all about mindset.

Charles Posted: Jun 19, 2008 at 06:50 PM EDT

Bigger dey are harder dey fall; the size of the fight matters

PETER Posted: Jun 12, 2008 at 02:56 PM EDT

It's def the size of the fight in the dog! i know ppl who are bigger than i am and they can't handle the game

Aaron Posted: Jun 10, 2008 at 03:29 PM EDT

im the biggest guy on my team but size does not all ways matter I know a guy who move but he was like 4'10 or something and he could really push me around if he wanted because he had skill I mean ya I was a heck of a lot stronger but he had skill and it was as good as any thing .

R.J. Posted: Jun 04, 2008 at 09:45 PM EDT

thats my motto..i'm gonna be a junior this season i weigh 235 and my height is 5'10' they say i might see 6ft..it used to bother me..but like you i live for the game. i've never been afraid of anyone on defense or offense. I may be a little short but i'll be in college playing R.J.#54 good luck man!!

Sean Posted: May 31, 2008 at 01:09 PM EDT

Ha, definitely the fight in the dog. I had a game yesterday and a fairly small linebacker on my team just smashed a 200lb Tailback. The kid was out for the rest of the game. Now try to tell me it's the size.
